Classic creature comedy horror directed by Joe Dante and produced by Steven Spielberg. When Billy Peltzer (Zach Gilligan) is given the cute and friendly little Mogwai, Gizmo (voiced by Howie Mandel), for Christmas, he is told never to expose it to bright light, get it wet or ever feed it after midnight. But one night when a glass of water is accidentally spilled over little Gizmo, Billy soon finds out why he was told to follow this advice as Gizmo begins to convulse, producing five new Mogwai. As Billy and his science teacher, Mr. Hanson (Glynn Turman), then seek to find out more about the creatures, a series of events lead to the escape of a number of them; and due to their heightened intelligence they know exactly how to replicate themselves. Soon after, the town is overrun by a new breed of Mogwai - the 'Gremlins' - who are menacing little reptilian creatures, and far from friendly.
Tim Allen stars as Scott Calvin, a cynical toy company executive who is forced to take over the job of Santa Claus when he and his son Charlie witness the previous incumbent falling off a roof. Soon Scott finds himself putting on weight, growing a white beard and fulfiling his obligation to deliver presents to all the children around the world. He even finds himself reluctantly getting into the spirit of things!
Both Gremlins adventures are collected on this double bill. In the first film an eccentric inventor brings an unusual Christmas gift home for his son Billy (Zach Galligan): a cute, real life teddy bear called Mogwai, obtained from a Chinese trinket store. Upon purchase, the shopowner offers two strict warnings: don't let Mogwai come into contact with water; and don't feed him after midnight. Inevitably, both these stipulations are ignored, and the cuddly creature begins to spawn some distinctly unruly offspring. In the sequel, Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates and Gizmo return (the loveable Mogwai who spawns nasty Gremlins when wet), but this time Gizmo is in danger of dissection by a fiendish doctor (Christopher Lee). On his escape, he gets a dousing and before long the uncontrollable Gremlins (this time in mutated form) are back and wreaking havoc.
Worried that their troublesome St Bernard is about to be sent away for good, the Newton kids secretly send him to obedience school. But then a chance mix-up gets their dog, Beethoven, sent to stay with the millionaire Sedgwick family, and the Sedgwick's well-behaved St Bernard delivered to the Newton's house. How long will it take for the baffled humans to work out what's really happened? The limited edition includes the original 'Beethoven' movie.
It's Santa vs. Jack Frost as the two go head to head over who runs Christmas. In this third instalment of the series, Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) aka Santa Clause is up against it. With his wife Carol/Mrs Clause (Elizabeth Mitchell) pregnant, and her parents due for a visit, a lightning makeover of Santa's village is needed to protect his identity. With too much to do and time running out, Santa's happy to let Jack Frost (Martin Short) step up and save the day. Unfortunately for Santa, Frost has been waiting to seize his moment, and soon he's in control of Christmas. Now, with his powers gone, will Scott choose to return to his normal life, or will he try to take back the reins from sneaky Jack Frost?
Eddie Murphy plays fast-talking Detroit cop Axel Foley, whose regular assignments include tracking down cigarette thieves. When a friend is killed, he begins an unofficial investigation which leads him to Beverly Hills, where he runs into trouble with the straight-laced police force who disapprove of his anarchic methods. However, with the help of fellow cops Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and Taggart (John Ashton), he tracks down the killers.
